BanyaCold plunge

A basement bathhouse on East 10th Street, running since 1892, with a Russian room heated by a massive rock oven, a Turkish room, an icy plunge pool and a small restaurant.

More about Russian & Turkish Baths

The heat comes in several rooms: the Russian room with its huge stone oven, a white-tiled Turkish room, a cherry-wood Finnish sauna and an aromatic steam room. Between rounds you drop into the ice-cold pool, and in warm months there is a roof deck. Platza with oak or birch branches, salt scrubs and mud treatments cost extra.

The schedule mixes coed hours with men-only and women-only hours, so check the calendar before you go. During coed hours you wear a swimsuit or shorts. Two ownership groups take turns running the baths week by week, and prices and passes can differ between them.
